Terry Massey started Your Mental Edge © 16 years ago and his goal was to teach people to think well about themselves, to take pride in themselves and to visualize themselves the way they want to be. Terry has always said when you see yourself a certain way that is the way you will be. He has produced mass public seminars throughout the Western United States using mental imagery as a vehicle for one to achieve their goals. He will show a group how to achieve their personal goals, their corporate goals and create that team building pride we all seek in the business world.
Terry knew when he was five years old that he wanted to be a Police Officer. After attending Indiana University majoring in Criminal Justice and receiving a minor in Business, he made his dream come true and joined his hometown Police Department in Northern Indiana. Later he chose warmer climate and moved to South Florida where he continued his career in law enforcement developing forensic investigative skills that he would use for the rest of his life as his real purpose began to unfold. For the next sixteen years he followed his childhood dream taking full advantage of state and locally sponsored educational programs. His final stop in his law enforcement journey would be in Northern Colorado as Chief Investigator of Major Crimes. One of these aforementioned local and state sponsored programs would propel him into his present day business of producing educational, motivational and inspirational seminars. He found himself among an elite group that was selected for college level training in the science of forensic mental imagery. He has always believed, “regardless whether you believe you can or believe you can’t, you are absolutely right”.
Terry’s has been called an adventurer. He was not afraid to travel to foreign lands when the opportunity presented itself. His family became accustomed to his phones calls telling them that he was in Central America, Bermuda, Thailand or wherever. Terry always felt it was absolutely necessary to experience all he could, when he could and then translate those experiences in to lessons of life that he could pass on. . . the good, the bad and even the ugly. To give some credence to this, Terry has had many residences over the years to validate the statement. Terry has lived and worked in the following countries; United States, Canada, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Mexico, Mas Palomas Las Palmas (Spain), Bangkok / Phuket / Krabi (Thailand), Dominican Republic, Colombia and Guatemala. The good was really good and as he puts it, the bad was very bad. As a consultant to a Central American government, he found himself escaping in the middle of the night when his life was endangered.
Terry began to use his knowledge of mental imagery, coupled with his life experiences to produce self improvement seminars across the western United States. He developed unique strategies for improving sales, increasing productivity, team building skills and goal achievements. He gave a seminar to a resort developer and his life took another direction. Over the course of the next sixteen years, he was part of the Senior Management for some of the worlds most prominent resort developers. At one point, he was responsible for a sales and marketing organization operating twenty-two resorts in four countries with over nine hundred personnel. Terry took the skills he learned in law enforcement, then honed and massaged them, to produce his self-improvement seminars.
Terry took the lessons of his diverse life and created a company that he feels says it all, Your Mental Edge©. He firmly believes that he has the ability to train anyone to have the mental capabilities to accomplish any goal they desire. Coupled with unique teaching techniques and an immeasurable passion for what he does, his seminars are life changing for many who attend.
In 2009 Terry he will bring his motivational and inspirational message to those that until now could not afford to hear it. He will be able to achieve one more of his life’s dreams and goals. With the help of many others, he will produce seminars in major cities around the United States that will be specifically for those individuals that could never afford the high ticket motivational seminars produced by some of the more well known speakers of today. He is partnering with some of those speakers and other sponsors to produce a seminar for the people that really need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone that wants to, will be able to attend. The projected attendance for each seminar shall exceed 10,000. Terry says; “If we can just touch the lives of just 10% of those we talk to during these seminars and they pass that lesson on to just two more people it will have an impact that is unimaginable. Just do the numbers . . . it becomes a very powerful process.”
Terry’s life is so large, this has been a mere thumbnail of his past and a brief look into the future.
